We are really fond of Wiesbaden, but we have not quite got the relaxing part down yet. The parks in Wiesbaden seem to stretch forever, but we are always on the move and wanting to explore more. On one Sunday, we decided to walk until we couldn't walk anymore. This led us to some interesting parts of old Wiesbaden, a castle, and a neverending hill, only broken up by stairs in between.

We discovered Burg Sonnenberg, which was exciting to all of us because we had yet to see a castle since living in Germany.

The Burg Sonnenberg Castle dates back to the year 1200 and secured the area north of Wiesbaden for the Counts of Nassau.

It was the most important bastion of the dukes of Nassau. Duke Adolf, who was elected German king in 1292, resided here.

Today the citadel is an imposing ruin. The tower, which has been preserved, houses a small museum. From the tower and the restaurant terrace, the view sweeps over the valley and across wooded hillsides.

The day was so hot and even Teddy came along this time. We made our way up the huge hill that was only broken up by stairs that would lead to more of the hill. Eventually, we made our way to the top and around Wiesbaden back to a new gate to Heinerburg we had never been through.

I'm sure there is more of Wiesbaden for us to discover...
